The Legend of Bagger Vance ~ August 14, 2011

I wasn't going to post today. But I changed my mind.

I know I've probably devoted a note or a post to this movie before, but I am going to do it again. Because it is just that GOOD.  I don't know if I've mentioned it or not before, but The Legend of Bagger Vance is one of my all time favorite movies. I'm not sure I can find the words to explain to you how much I LOVE THIS MOVIE.

If you haven't seen it rent it; if it isn't in your DVD collection buy it.  If you would prefer you could always get the book which is written by Steven Pressfield and said to be roughly based on the Hindu sacred text the Bhagavad Gita, where the Warrior/Hero Arjuna (R. Junuh) refuses to fight. The God Krishna appears as Bhagavan (Bagger Vance) to help him to follow his path as the warrior and hero that he was meant to be.

Now you may think this movie is about golf, but I don't think it is really about golf at all. I think it is about life.  And all of the advice that Bagger gives to Junuh can be applied to just about anything you do in life.

The Field

In The Woods

Your Authentic Swing

How Junuh and Bagger meet

I could probably go on and keep posting clips from the movie . . .

As Bagger says "Golf is a game that can't be won; only played. I think the same can be said of life.  I hope you enjoy these clips.
