We cannot force the hands of time, but only comply with the clock of destiny. Everything takes place in its divine moment, however. We are not always aware of the wherefore or the why. ~ Dawn Silver

Honesty ~ Are You Being Honest With Yourself?
The hardest person to be honest with is ourselves. We don't like to think that we tell ourselves lies. But we do. Or maybe they aren't lies they are excuses. Kind of like the reasons we resist.
If we were honest with ourselves there would be time for exercise - Instead of watching hours of TV or spending hours in front of Facebook how hard would it be to carve 30 minutes out of that time to take a walk, stretch or do some yoga poses?
What other things can you think of that we lie to ourselves about???
What are you lying to yourself about??
Quotes
Don't Stop Believing ~ "Please don’t give up.
Don’t let the gremlins stop you.
Know that you are not alone. Please don’t quit.
Bring it on. We need you, we need your voice.
Please don’t stop believing in yourself.
Those gremlins are illusions."

Quotes
Every day we slaughter our finest impulses. That is why we get a heart-ache when we read those lines written by the hand of a master and recognize them as our own, as the tender shoots which we stifled because we lacked the faith to believe in our own powers, our own criterion of truth and beauty. Every man, when he gets quiet, when he becomes desperately honest with himself, is capable of uttering profound truths. We all derive from the same source. There is no mystery about the origin of things. We are all part of creation, all kings, all poets, all musicians; we have only to open up, to discover what is already there. ~ Henry Miller
Responsibility to self simply means to acknowledge inner truth—our imperfections and our power, our beauty. ~ John Pierrakos

Fear; How Long Will You Let it Steer Your Life?
I'm going to share a secret with you . . . I have let fear steer the direction of my life (on occasions and in certain circumstances).
This blog is almost always the words of others because I'm afraid.
I'm afraid every time I hit the publish button. What if no one reads my post? What if no one likes my post? What if you don't like what I post? What if you have something negative to say about my post?
What if the words I write are wrong? What if there is a typo? What if I can't make myself understood? What if? What if? What if?
I have a feeling that it is time for a change here at Be Positively Inspired. Oh My Gosh . . . there is another scary concept; Change. I am not completely sure what those changes will be and what the end product will look like; but I hope that you will all join me on this journey.
I'm tired of letting fear steer the direction of my life. It is time to let go of those what ifs and move towards what I really believe this blog on page can be.
Quotes
A further sign of health is that we don't become undone by fear and trembling, but we take it as a message that it's time to stop struggling and look directly at what's threatening us. ~ Pema Chodron

Quotes
You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, 'I have lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.' You must do the thing you think you cannot do. ~ Eleanor Roosevelt
A further sign of health is that we don't become undone by fear and trembling, but we take it as a message that it's time to stop struggling and look directly at what's threatening us. ~ Pema Chodron

Healing ~ Oct. 15, 2011
I haven't posted in a few days. There are a few reasons for that. I'd list them, but they kind of sound like excuses. If I'd really wanted to get a post published; I would have worked through those excuses and found a way to do it. I believe a couple of the excuses are legitimate; but you know they seem to pale to some of the obstacles that others face and still get on with their days.
I picked healing as a topic because I've been in physical pain for the last few days and am trying to figure out some way to heal that pain. None of these quotes really address that kind of pain. As long as I can get out of my bed in the morning and continue with my day I have something to be grateful for. I am grateful that the pain is not as bad as it was yesterday, or the day before. And while I may hurt, I can still get up and do the things I love and try to be a lamp, a ladder or a lifeboat to help heal someone's soul.
Quotes
Love heals the world one heart at a time. ~ Mr. Prophet
While holding positive thoughts and emotions is advantageous, positive thinking itself is not "Hallmark Card thinking." It's really an ongoing awareness that all truly is well with the world, with life, and with oneself. It's also a commitment not to mindlessly pass on fears but to bring positive energy, images, ideas, and feelings into the lives of others, to help them attune to the wellness at the heart of the world. ~ David Spangler
Be a lamp, a lifeboat, a ladder. Help someone's soul heal. Walk out of your house like a shepherd. ~ Mevlana Rumi
Loving ourselves is the miracle cure we are all looking for. ~ Louise Hay

The biggest opportunities find us when we’re open to receiving them."

Existence ~ Oct. 10, 2011
Had a great day . . . wanted to talk a little about gratitude today. The BPI page on Facebook hit another milestone. 7,000 likes. I am so grateful for all the love that you show. For sharing my posts and mentioning the page to others. I am also grateful for the support of other page admins who share my posts and suggest or page to their fans.
I went to knitting group yesterday and am blessed and grateful for such great knitting friends. I was gifted a hat, a pattern for a beautiful sweater (I've never done a sweater . . . I'm a little scared by the idea) and I was also given the yarn for the sweater. Now I just have to dive in and start it. Wish me luck.
I hope that you found something to be grateful for in your day today. I know I found many things to be grateful for today. Thank you all.

You are what you want to become. Why search anymore? You are a wonderful manifestation. The whole universe has come together to make your existence possible. There is nothing that is not you. The kingdom of God, the Pure Land, nirvana, happiness, and liberation are all you. ~ Thich Nhat Hanh
Spirituality means waking up. Most people, even though they don't know it, are asleep. They're born asleep, they live asleep, they marry in their sleep, they breed children in their sleep, they die in their sleep without ever waking up. They never understand the loveliness and the beauty of this thing that we call human existence. ~ Anthony De Mello
~ This is kind of sad . . . I bet we all know people like this.
Philosophy is speculation, Zen is participation. Participate in the night leaving, participate in the evening coming, participate in the stars and participate in the clouds; make participation your lifestyle and the whole existence becomes such a joy, such an ecstasy. Quotes
. . . all of us tend to put off living. We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon – instead of enjoying the roses that are blooming outside our windows today. ~ Dale Carnegie
You and I are standing this very second at the meeting place of two eternities: the vast past that has endured forever, and the future that is plunging on to the last syllable of recorded time. We can’t possible live in either of those eternities – no, not even for a split second. But, by trying to do so, we can wreck both our bodies and our minds. So let’s be content to live the only time we can possible live: from now until bedtime. ~ Dale Carnegie

Choice ~ Oct. 6, 2011
We make choices everyday. Some of our choices are good for us and others not so much. Some of them are easier than others. What choices did you make today that lead you towards your goals?
I really like the first quote posted here. It really is true if you aren't changing something that isn't working in your life you are choosing. In order to move forward in life we have to admit that some of the things that are not so great in our lives have been directly related to the choices we have made. I am physically out of shape and could stand to lose a few pounds; I know that the choices I have made have lead me to be that way. Choosing to go for seconds; when one plate was enough. Choosing to sit around and watch TV all evening instead of going out and being physically active.
I'm ready to be accountable for my choices. How about you?
Quotes
~ This is a tough quote to wrap your head around. But it is kind of true right?

You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go. ~ Dr. Suess
Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people's thinking. My Favorite Blogs
Okay, I'm thinking it is time for something a little different. Today I'm relying on me to write a post; not relying on the words of others. Not to worry though, after the list of my favorite blogs, I'll run down the quotes and log posts I posted to the page.
I can hardly believe it myself, but I have about 98 blogs that I follow. Holy cow! No wonder I don't have time to exercise (okay, that's an excuse, but reading these blogs posts is much more fun than exercise).
1. Zen Habits ~ He isn't posting to it as much as he used to, but it still definitely one of my favorites. I just about always share his posts either here at Be Positively Inspired or on my own page. From his "About" page ~ "Zen Habits is about finding simplicity in the daily chaos of our lives. It’s about clearing the clutter so we can focus on what’s important, create something amazing, find happiness."
2. Tiny Buddha ~ As you know I share these post pretty often to; sometimes daily. From their "About" page ~ " Tiny Buddha is about reflecting on simple wisdom and learning new ways to apply it to our complex lives–complete with responsibilities, struggles, dreams, and relationships." You can also find them on Facebook here.
3. 1000 Awesome Things ~ I don't always share these ones here; I do on my personal page sometimes. I love the way ordinary every day things can be turned into something awesome here. It helps me find the awesome in my day when it has been a bit rough.

We call them "consciousness movements" because of their common intention to throw open the windows and doors of the musty old mind-sets we live in, shake the dust out of the covers we wrap around our bodies, and in a thousand old and new ways, guide whoever is willing to show up and pay attention to a fresh experience of being human. ~ Paul H. 5 Reasons It's Ok to Not Know What the Future Holds ~ Not knowing is tough for some of us. I admit that sometimes it drives me crazy, but I agree knowing the outcome of everything would mean lessons lost, connections and relationships not made.
Tiny Wisdom: Not Taking the Easy Road ~ "Today I’m opening that door by not taking the easiest road. Today I will make an effort. Will you?" Besides, the easy road isn't as scenic as the rough road.
Tiny Wisdom: Stressing and Pushing for Success ~ "Maybe it’s more than just believing in our ability to succeed; maybe happiness is believing in our ability to be content and satisfied whether we do or not. Today if you feel fixated on the success you want to achieve, remember: the greatest success is doing what you love and believing that’s enough."
Tiny Wisdom: The Time is Now ~ “To be alive is to totally and openly participate in the simplicity and elegance of here and now.” ~ Donald Altman
Who is the happiest of men? He who values the merits of others, and in their pleasure takes joy, even as though 'twere his own. ~ Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Patience ~ Sept. 12, 2011
I'm sure I've mentioned it before, but I am not a very patient person. It is something that I am working on though. Still some days it is tough to be patient at a stop sign (we don't have stop lights in my city), or while waiting in line at the grocery store. But I try to remind myself that most of the time I don't have to be anywhere at a particular time, I'm not in a rush so why can't I wait a nanosecond for the car in front of me? Some days it it easier than others. What helps you maintain patience when you want to be impatient?
Quotes
They found a little courage That simmered in the sun. They blended it with patience And just a spice of fun. They poured in hope and laughter And then with a sudden twist They stirred it all together And made an Optimist. ~ unknown
~ This one is just cute; I had to share it.
Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
~ Many things in nature take time. Consider trees as an example. It takes years for them to grow to be tall enough to make shade for your yard.
If we could look into each others' hearts and understand the unique challenges each of us face, I think we would treat each other much more gently, with more love, patience, tolerance, and care. ~ Marvin J. Ashton

Tiny Wisdom: Let Yourself Be As You Are ~ "Let yourself be as you are today. Accept what you feel in your body and mind, without feeling the need to fight it, deny it, ignore it, hide it, or push through to the other side. And then take good care of yourself. Sometimes the best way to help yourself is to stop fighting yourself."

Heroism ~ August 30, 2011
I'm not sure why I chose to heroism as a topic today . . . I've been kind of going in alphabetical order as far as topics and heroism seemed to leap off the page at me today.
I didn't feel very heroic today. Well the morning started out great. When I got to work (which is something I love ~ my own business Coastal Serenity) this morning it seemed like things spiraled out of control. The only part I had any control over was my reaction to it and yet I chose to let it make me grumpy. Only for a little while though, but still . . .
The day did get better and is ending on a more positive note. I know that tomorrow will be a better day.
Quotes
~ I have days where it seems like nothing can go right, I know we all do. I have met people who it seems that nothing ever goes right for. One thing after another piles up on their shoulders. Yet some of these people shake it off and have a great attitude and continue to get up every day. Writing themselves as the hero of their story.

Lighten Your Life ~ "If where you’re going is important, decide what really matters and take responsibility for your freedom. Hold tight to everything and everyone that will support your voyage and let go of everything else. Embrace your essence and when there is doubt let love lighten your load: a life painted in love outweighs a voyage completed unprepared."
What You Need to Live a Life of Purpose ~ I think this goes great with my topic today - heroism. I believe that when we live our lives with purpose it is a heroic act. When we stand up for our values and live them every day despite what others think that is heroic. ~ “Suffering unnecessarily is masochistic rather than heroic.” ~ Viktor Frankl
Tiny Wisdom: Are You Afraid of Success? ~ "We all deserve to live lives that feel passionate and purposeful. And the world needs for us to find the courage to do the things we want to do—not because we’re chasing success, but because we want to make a difference, and we know we deserve and can handle whatever that entails."

True heroism goes beyond a single act of courage-it is a lifestyle of loving mankind everyday, the effects of which ripple from each practitioner out into the world. ~ Chris Benguhe
~ I like this one. It reminds me how we are all connected.
We all live in suspense, from day to day, from hour to hour; in other words, we are the hero of our own story. ~ Mary McCarthy
~ Yes we are . . .
The beauty of the soul shines out when a man bears with composure one heavy mischance after another, not because he does not feel them, but because he is a man of high and heroic temper. ~ Aristotle

No input from me today . . . going to let the words stand for themselves. I hope that you enjoy.
Quotes
~ Lao Tzu
I have Some Bad News For Some of You ~ "The thing is my friends, you can do all those things you crave but there is no magic pill. You have to do the work, put in some effort and sometimes be willing to risk, fail and try again. Sometimes it’s hard. And that’s okay. This is how we learn what really matters." ~ Bonnie has this one right on. There isn't a magic pill. Life takes work. Sometimes you are going to fail. Sometimes you are going to falter. But that's okay as long as we learn a lesson from it and get back up and try again. And remember to never give up.
Quotes
to know people is wisdom, but to know yourself is enlightenment.
to master people takes force, but to master yourself takes strength.
to know contentment is wealth, and to live with strength resolve.
to never leave whatever you are is to abide, and to die without getting lost-
that is to live on and on.

We are on a journey of becoming that which we already are. That is the impossible paradox of our lives. ~ Leonard Jacobson
Enlightenment is a state of wholeness, of being "at one" and therefore at peace. At one with life in its manifested aspect, the world, as well as with our deepest self and life unmanifested - at one with Being. Enlightenment is not only the end of suffering and of continuous conflict within and without, but also the end of the dreadful enslavement of incessant thinking. What an incredible liberation this is! ~Eckhart Toller - The Power of Now
A loving journey of transition begins by nurturing self care. If we honour our inner selves we not only live our divine blueprint, we also embrace the richness of humanity as we promote spiritual enlightenment. ~ Micheal Teal
It is not until you awaken and become fully present that you will realize that you have not been present. It is not until you awaken that you will realize you have been asleep, dreaming that you are awake. ~ Leonard Jacobson

Quotes
The soul is dyed the color of its thoughts. Think only on those things that are in line with your principles and can bear the light of day. The content of your character is your choice. Day by day, what you do is who you become. Your integrity is your destiny - it is the light that guides your way. ~ Heraclitus
Your morning thoughts may determine your conduct for the day. Optimistic thoughts will make your day bright and productive, while pessimistic thinking will make it dull and wasteful. Face each day cheerfully, smilingly and courageously, and it will naturally follow that your work will be a real pleasure and progress will be a delightful accomplishment. ~ William M. Peck
The supreme courage of life is the courage of the soul. It is living, day by day, sincerely, steadfastly, serenely,-despite all opinions, all obstacles, all opposition. It means the wine of inspiration from the crushed grapes of our sorrows. This courage makes the simplest life, great; it makes the greatest life-sublime. It means the royal dignity of fine individual living.

Quotes
All things share the same breath - the beast, the tree, the man, the air shares its spirit with all the life it supports. ~ Chief Seattle
"The caterpillar trusts his maker that all is well. He does not cling to his old garment and thus is transformed into a magnificent butterfly. There is no pain, it is a natural transmutation. So it is with us. As the chrysalis is the bridge between caterpillar and butterfly, so is True perception the bridge between separation and Oneness. We are transmuting into a new state of Being. Clinging to our caterpillar stage, our old ways of judgment, we shall never learn to fly into the dawn of a new day." ~ Peter Erbe
Everyone you meet in your life - even total strangers - is already intimately connected to you. The idea that we are all separate and distinct beings is nothing but an illusion. We are all parts of a larger whole, like individual cells in a body. ~ Steve Pavlina

You're Not As Authentic As You Think You Are ~ "You have to stop caring one tiny bit about whether someone thinks something you’re doing, saying, or believing is kooky … or “wrong.”

Tiny Wisdom: On Creating Change ~ "Today as you go about your day, if you find yourself doing what you’ve always done, ask yourself: What would make me feel excited about today? Then do it. That tingling sense of fear and possibility–it’s the feeling of being alive."

Wow; some days just present more challenges than others. Today numbers were kicking my butt. I work two days a week as a bookkeeper for a timeshare resort. Today was the day we got to take care of a bunch of end of the month things. Numbers . . . numbers . . . numbers. Transposing numbers, re-adding numbers, subtracting numbers, multiplying numbers and even on occasion getting the numbers to add up correctly the first time. I was pretty tough on myself about it. I don't know why, but I was. It felt like it took all day to complete a task that should have only taken an hour (I'm kind of rambling now).
The point I guess I'm trying to make is that we shouldn't be so hard on ourselves when things don't add up right away. Some days are just like that and you know what? Tomorrow will be better (Plus, I wont have to touch a calculator).Give yourself a break.
Quotes
"Hope is like a path in the countryside: originally there was no path - - yet, as people are walking all the time in the same spot, a way appears." ~ Lu Xun
"Be careful with your mouth, but primarily with your mind; do not let evil thoughts start talking to you. Do not let your mouth say words that could perhaps wound your brother. Let your mouth put forth words which are fragrant: words of consolation, courage and hope. It is a person's mouth that reveals his interior, inner man." ~ Elder Ephraim
Infuse your life with action. Don't wait for it to happen. Make it happen. Make your own future. Make your own hope. Make your own love. And whatever your beliefs, honor your creator, not by passively waiting for grace to come down from upon high, but by doing what you can to make grace happen... yourself, right now, right down here on Earth. ~ Bradley Whitford
