Quotes

All things share the same breath - the beast, the tree, the man, the air shares its spirit with all the life it supports. ~ Chief Seattle

"The caterpillar trusts his maker that all is well. He does not cling to his old garment and thus is transformed into a magnificent butterfly. There is no pain, it is a natural transmutation. So it is with us. As the chrysalis is the bridge between caterpillar and butterfly, so is True perception the bridge between separation and Oneness. We are transmuting into a new state of Being. Clinging to our caterpillar stage, our old ways of judgment, we shall never learn to fly into the dawn of a new day." ~ Peter Erbe

Everyone you meet in your life - even total strangers - is already intimately connected to you.  The idea that we are all separate and distinct beings is nothing but an illusion.  We are all parts of a larger whole, like individual cells in a body. ~ Steve Pavlina

Are You Missing Your True Calling "Get it?  And, whatever that purpose is, if you’re not living it, then you’re not living you.  You know your purpose when you feel like you can’t NOT do or be something, or when something feels so incredibly right that it’s like a second skin."

Here's the video the above post talks about - in case you don't read the post What Oprah Knows for Sure

You're Not As Authentic As You Think You Are ~ "You have to stop caring one tiny bit about whether someone thinks something you’re doing, saying, or believing is kooky … or “wrong.”
You have to care about one thing and one thing only:  does what you’re doing and being feel right to YOU."

Tiny Wisdom: On Creating Change ~ "Today as you go about your day, if you find yourself doing what you’ve always done, ask yourself: What would make me feel excited about today? Then do it. That tingling sense of fear and possibility–it’s the feeling of being alive."

Gold Star Syndrome ~ Via Up From Splat

"Lean too much on the approval of people, and it becomes a bed of thorns." ~ Tehyi Hsieh

"The most splendid achievement of all is the constant striving to surpass yourself and to be worthy of your own approval." ~ Denis Waitley

One of the blogs I enjoy reading is http://upfromsplat.com/blog/.  She posts text blogs and sometimes she posts videos.  This one is about Gold Star Syndrome.
I think many of us suffer from Gold Star Syndrome. We have been brainwashed into believing that we need the approval of others. Some one outside of us to tell us that what we have done is good and right.

I make beaded jewelry, I enjoy making beaded jewelry. There is something really gratifying about taking a pile of beads and creating a beautiful piece of jewelry that I can wear or even pass on to  someone else to enjoy. I enjoy the feeling when someone thinks a piece of my jewelry is beautiful, but I don't make it to get that pat on the back. I make the jewelry because it makes me feel good to create something.
I can see how we come to rely on this approval as the basis for our self-esteem; it feels good.  But as Ande says in this video we have no control over someone else.  We can only control ourselves, our own thoughts, and our own actions.
