Transformation ~ Sept. 17, 2011

Wow . . . dropping my amazing daughter at college yesterday was one of the hardest things I've ever done. I wanted so badly to spend a couple of days up there with her.  We were all in tears before we even left the house yesterday.  It reminded me of when she was little and I would drop her off at day care.  Especially those days when she really didn't feel like going.

When she called this morning . . . homesick and crying; well I bet you can guess that we had another tough situation.  As the day went on she started feeling better about being there and settling in a little more.  But then we get home from a day at the shop, cooking dinner for 2 and staring in to her empty room . . .

So transformation was a good topic today . . . because we change daily, our kids grow up more every day and there is nothing that we can do about it.  There is no pause button on life; and even if there was our kids need to grow up and learn to live their own lives.  Even though it feels a bit like a part of me is missing.  I know this is an important transition for her and us; but knowing that doesn't make it easier.  I wish I had some advice or tips on making it easier, but right now my emotions are on the surface and it is hard to look deeper.

Quotes

The distance isn't important; it is only the first step that is difficult. ~ Marquise Deffand

Take an hour every day at dawn and give it to your Self. Meet your Self there, in the holy moment. Then go about your day. You will be a different person. ~ Neale Donald Walsch

Once upon a time, I dreamt I was a butterfly...
Suddenly I awoke...
Now, I do not know whether I was then
a man dreaming I was a butterfly,
or whether I am now a butterfly
dreaming that I am a man.
~Chuang Tzu

"The caterpillar trusts his maker that all is well. He does not cling to his old garment and thus is transformed into a magnificent butterfly. There is no pain, it is a natural transmutation. So it is with us. As the chrysalis is the bridge between caterpillar and butterfly, so is True perception the bridge between separation and Oneness. We are transmuting into a new state of Being. Clinging to our caterpillar stage, our old ways of judgment, we shall never learn to fly into the dawn of a new day." ~ Peter Erbe

Now ~ Sept. 10, 2011

Quotes

Focus your attention on the Now and tell me what problem you have at this moment. ~ Eckhart Tolle

~ I hope that you will take a moment and try this exercise. A true test of whether you are living in the now or not.

Because I don't live in either my past or my future. I'm interested only in the present. If you can concentrate always on the present, you'll be a happy man... Life will be a party for you, a grand festival, because life is the moment we're living right now. ~ Paulo Coelho

~ I know this isn't always easy to do. But when you live in the present how can life not be a "party for you, a grand festival"?

There are not kinds of love, love is love; there are only degrees of love. Love is trusting, accepting and believing, without guarantee. Love is patient and waits, but it's an active waiting, not a passive one. For it is continually offering itself in a mutual revealing, a mutual sharing, Love is spontaneous and craves expression through joy, through beauty, through truth, even through tears. Love lives in the moment; it's neither lost in yesterday nor does it crave for tomorrow. Love is Now! ~ Leo F. Buscaglia
